Power and Humility Can Coexist

Leadership doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all blueprint. If you’ve seen one leader, you’ve seen… one leader. No two look exactly the same.

That’s why stepping into your power must be rooted in humility.

Humility helps us remember that our voice isn’t the only one that matters. We bring just one perspective—valuable, yes, but incomplete. When we lead with humility, we create room for other voices, deeper collaboration, and better outcomes.

“My way or the highway” might get short-term compliance, but it won’t foster long-term commitment. It stifles creativity, erodes trust, and leaves people feeling undervalued.

Here’s a great example. Many of my client leaders struggle with delegation. I often hear reasons like:
• “It’s easier if I do it myself.”
• “I don’t want to overload others.”
• “It’s too important, and it needs to be right.”

These statements seem logical—but underneath them is something more:
👉 A belief that others don’t know enough or won’t make it a priority
👉 Uncertainty over outcomes and timing
👉 A subtle fear that if they don’t do it, they lose value or importance

What happens? The leader keeps the work, becomes overloaded, others miss the opportunity to grow, and ultimately… forward movement stalls.

Delegating takes humility. So does collaboration. But when you share power, you grow influence—and people.
